"The health careers opportunity program has provided me with the endless resources and guidance that I felt I was deprived of due to my underprivileged background of parents who had not completed their education or even had the adequate knowledge to put me on the right path of becoming a healthcare professional. Some of the skills I acquired while being an ambassador of HCOP are learning to implement proper time management, resume/CV reconstruction, knowledge of multiple clinical-based laboratory courses, and many more. In addition, HCOP has paired me with a mentor who works closely with me to ensure that my every move is a strategic and well thought out move that brings me one step closer to getting into medical school. "

"I was very happy to be selected as HCOP ambassador in April 2019. At that time, we were new immigrants, my family and I, with very difficult financial issues. HCOP helped me a lot by paying my tuition for my remaining classes and until graduation. In the summer program, I received assistance with time management so that I could succeed in my classes. HCOP also helped me by paying for my ASCP exam and the exam materials. I got myASCP certificate in Microbiology last year, and it will help me a lot in my career. Also, I received financial support from HCOP to apply for the CIBC certificate board of infection control and epidemiology. The HCOP team staff are very helpful, and we always received a quick response from them."
